Dartmoor National Trust
The Dartmoor National Trust has been helping preserve our national heritage since 1895, and across the country manages over 500 properties, 248,000 hectares of land, and 775 miles of coastline.
On Dartmoor, they are active across local properties such as Castle Drogo, and Parke at Bovey Tracey. This year they are promoting citizen science projects.
The Dartmoor National Trust say…
Our stall will be manned by National Trust staff and volunteers from Parke, Bovey Tracey including the Volunteering & Community Officer as well as the Ranger for Parke. There will be an opportunity for attendees to the show to come and chat to the team about activities, events, volunteering, climate action, conservation, family days out, membership, other sites and other ways to enjoy Parke or be involved.
There will be images and information about our river restoration, habitat improvement and biodiversity work. We will have literature about our sites as well as how to contribute through volunteering, events or community collaborations.
As well as information we will have somewhere for people to rest and sit. There will be lots of natural items for people to explore such as nests, skulls, lichen species, demo bug houses etc. We will have several children’s activities such as badge making, nature crowns, possible face painting, drawing and bug hunts. Staff and volunteers will be in uniform.
