Thinking of visiting Lustleigh Show?

Why you should bring your family to Lustleigh Show

Situated on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park in the picturesque Wrey Valley, Lustleigh is a quintessential English village where every August Bank Holiday Monday the villagers come together to host one of Devon’s most popular village shows.

The show has been held since 1887, and has been on its current site at Kelly Farm since 1947.

Over the years, the show has gone from strength to strength, growing from a simple produce and flower show, to adding a popular dog show, a 10k run, live bands, children’s sports, multiple attractions, dozens of stallholders, food and drink outlets featuring local produce and a Show Bar.

Our latest addition is a display of vintage vehicles, originated from an idea by a committee member and which has grown from “a few” to “lots”. You can find the display in the Dog Show field.

The Main Show and the Dog Show are located in fields surrounded by secure borders and arranged so that your family will feel safe at all times.

The Lustleigh Garden Society hold their own produce and flower show within the show grounds, which from its modest beginnings, is now a major event, attracting entries from far and wide.

The 10k run grew from a fun run (entrants dubbed it a not-so-fun-run) to a staple of the running calendar for local running clubs as well as pitting local village runners of all abilities against each other. It is an ARC registered 10k, run over a challenging multi-terrain course, over hilly lanes, stony tracks, muddy paths and pasture, in and around the village of Lustleigh.

The Dog Show has grown from modest beginnings to a size that now requires its own field and features 14 classes plus agility classes and a gundog scurry over three rings.

So, what makes Lustleigh Show different?

We provide a full day of activities and attractions for the entire family, young and not so young, and as such we are constantly searching for new, exciting attractions, especially those which offer a hands-on experience, so that the show is constantly evolving year on year.

Newer attractions have included a climbing wall, circus skills workshops, and an even better Lustleigh Showtime music stage. This complements old favourites like children’s sports, sheaf tossing, animal encounters, and a live jazz band.

It’s a great day out for all the family with a packed schedule of attractions showcasing local skills, crafts and produce whilst providing all the fun of the fair with traditional music, games and sideshows.

We take great care in sourcing a wide range of delicious food from local artisan producers so that all tastes are catered for: omnivore, vegetarian and vegan, hot or cold, sweet or savoury.

We don’t allow portable generators or any kind of noisy, polluting machinery on site, so forget bouncy castles or huge white-knuckle rides; rather our aim is to provide a setting where you can bring along a rug, chill out, relax, listen to the music, have a drink, sample some food and pass the day away whilst your family enjoys and participates in our attractions.

You can find a full list of all the attractions, stallholders, food and music planned for the next show on our website www.thelustleighshow.com, where you can also book tickets for priority entry.

The Lustleigh Village Show is a non-profit organisation, and is run entirely by volunteers. Your money is used to run the show, and any surplus is donated to local charities, non-profit organisations and local good causes. We have donated tens of thousands of pounds over the years.

The show is held on August Bank Holiday Monday. Gates open at 10am, and we close at 5.30pm.
