The Orchard Café Quartet
See them on our Showtime stage at 11am.
The Orchard Café Quartet was brought together by a love of folk music after the pandemic restrictions begun lifting. They perform existing and original folk tune arrangements from around Europe. Their music is based on a number of Nordic and Scottish folk tune arrangements written by The Danish String Quartet as well as an increasing number of original arrangements. The music is a perfect blend of traditional tunes, classical composition techniques and contemporary harmonisation as well as having some space for improvisation. Their name is taken from their first performance in The Orchard Café Gardens in Chudleigh.
The programme also includes some of the groups original arrangements of British tunes, an Irish Medley by Bill Thorpe and a very well known sea shanty that became popular last year on TikTok.
