Tug of War

The Lustleigh Village Tug of War

About the Lustleigh Village Tug of War…

If you like watching competitive sport of the highest standard, you will be thrilled to hear that we are reviving the village ‘Tug of War’ event at this year’s show.

Lustleigh is unusual in that it is geographically spread widely and can be divided into separate ‘fiefdoms’. Both to celebrate this fact, and to put the Village camaraderie to the ultimate test, the Show Committee is re-introducing an unashamedly divisive Village ‘Tug of War’.

There will be four competing teams made up of four female and four male ‘combatants’. Each team will represent a village ‘neighbourhood’.  On the big day there will be two semis and a grand final. The famous Lustleigh Tug of War shield, currently on show at ‘the Cleave’ village pub, will be presented to the winning team. This shield was last presented back in early 1990’s to the Bovey Police team…so do come along and watch local history in the making.

All action commences in the Main Ring at 4pm.
