Lustleigh Orchard Preschool and Playgroup
Orchard Pre-School and Playgroup is a not-for-profit registered charity based in Lustleigh, providing high-quality early years education for children aged 1–4. Our mission is to create a nurturing, stimulating environment where children learn through play and exploration.
Our nature garden, located within the Orchard, is central to this vision, offering children hands-on experiences that build confidence, curiosity, and respect for the environment.
Replacement of Storage Shed…
The current shed is dilapidated and leaks, causing damage to the items stored inside. The shed is 6X4 foot and we are looking to replace this with a similar shed (that doesn’t leak!). The group was also looking for funding to cover the labour associated with the removal of the old shed and erecting of the new shed.
Development of the Pond and Associated Area in the Nature Garden…
We are also working on a more longer-term project in respect of the pond in the nature garden. We want to develop this pond, creating a rich habitat for wildlife and an immersive learning resource for the children. The funds we are looking for in this respect would be used towards:
- Excavation of current pond and new pond lining. 2. Safety features such as fencing and signage.
- Native aquatic plants and habitat enhancements.
- Child-friendly observation tools.
The Show is pleased to have been able to provide funding to cover both these projects.
