Kirstie O’Leary Baskets

I have been making baskets from willow for many years, initially as a hobby and then in 2020 I dived in deeper to expand my skills, being guided by some very inspiring teachers to improve my basketry skills and now I make baskets regularly  and teach basket making from my home in Devon.

About Kirstie O’Leary Baskets…

Kirstie O’Leary is a local willow weaver who has been on an inspiring journey through the medium of basket making. She has been making baskets for many years but in the last 4 years has committed to learning and improving her basketry skills and techniques.

Kirstie is inspired by her connection to nature, drawing on the the local landscape to further inspire her baskets, the rolling hills of Devon and the vast expanse of Dartmoor, she enjoys to explore shape and contrast of colour, bringing these into her creations. She teaches basket making from her home in Dartington.

The willow she uses is sourced from a lovely family run business in Somerset and from an independent grower in the highlands.

She makes a variety of practical small baskets to large organic sculpted baskets as well as smaller trinkets and useful items such as bird feeders and decorative swallows.
