The Greasy Pole

After many years, we resurrected this side-show in 2024, and it proved such an attraction, that we are holding this again in 2025.

Some used to maintain that this constituted a few of the local children’s annual bath – but we won’t go into that.  

For parents advice: No “grease” is used, only water for the lubrication, which is quite enough. But we do suggest that you bring along some spare clothing etc. 

The Rules are quite simple:

 At the beginning, two entrants of similar ages climb onto the pole, and at the referee’s signal: each tries to knock the other off.

The winner stays on and a new entrant climbs on and at the ref’s signal the fun begins again.

And so it goes on.

The ref’s decision and authority is final; any what we would call “funny business” and off both go.

Each new entrant pays £1.00 – the winner staying on pays nothing.
